Greetings
the official website
of the Saemaul Undong Archives.
The Archives of Saemaul Undong are part of the UNESCO Memory of the World Register and are recognized as an important asset in human history.
The Archives of Saemaul Undong serve as a living testimony to the passion and dedication of Saemaul leaders and village residents who overcame poverty and hardships as they worked to eradicate poverty, overcome hunger, modernize rural areas, and improve the status of women, from 1970 to 1979.
At the UN Sustainable Development Summit in 2015, which was held to adopt Sustainable Development Goals,
Saemaul Undong was upheld as the ideal means of eradicating poverty and ending hunger.
The Archives of Saemaul Undong, which comprehensively resolved many rural problems and accelerated national development, are an example for international development organizations as well as governments and people in developing countries.
By sharing our experiences of successful community development with countries in Asia, Central and South America, Africa, and other parts of the world,
and by sharing the 50-year legacy of Saemaul Undong, upholding it as an asset of the future,
we will continue our journey on the path towards peace and prosperity.
